0 La Alcaldía de Barranquilla sigue recibiendo propuestas de grupos locales para suplir las necesidades frente al reto que impone el coronavirus en Barranquilla y el país.
Esta vez, nueve (9) jóvenes presentaron al alcalde Jaime Pumarejo Heins un prototipo de ventilador
mecánico, que desarrollaron para pacientes críticos infectados con COVID-19. El mandatario distrital conoció el proyecto de innovación abierta y anunció que pronto recibirán los recursos necesarios para iniciar etapa de producción. “Estamos apoyándolos y pidiéndoles que aceleren el proceso. Nosotros vamos a darles los recursos necesarios para que rápidamente puedan entrar en etapa de producción. Dentro de muy poco empezarán etapas de pruebas mecánicas y pruebas con el Invima para poder dar al servicio de Barranquilla y el mundo, unos ventiladores de eficiencia en costo y, además, hechos en Barranquilla; que responden a las necesidades de tiempo que tenemos los barranquilleros para tener respiradores de calidad”, manifestó Pumarejo Heins.
El alcalde de los barranquilleros agregó que la propuesta de ventiladores mecánicos diseñada y presentada “es una muestra de que en momentos difíciles estos grupos de jóvenes y de emprendedores han decidido estar a la altura del reto que nos impone el mundo en el día de hoy. Me siento orgulloso de conocer a este grupo y de saber que hay gente con esta ‘madera’ en Barranquilla”. 
El consultor de innovación, Arturo Jiménez, vocero de los jóvenes que desarrollaron el prototipo de ventilador, indicó que “comenzamos un reto muy importante debido a la coyuntura del coronavirus y es resolver el problema de ventiladores mecánicos que están requiriendo pacientes con emergencias con casos extremos en el país. Nos reunimos un grupo de ingenieros, diseñadores, ingenieros eléctricos, mecánicos, entre otros, para crear ventiladores de bajo costo que resuelvan la necesidad inmediata ante la escasez de la cadena de suministros que está sufriendo el país”. El joven explicó que el ventilador mecánico es un prototipo que está en su tercera versión y para su desarrollo tuvieron la
colaboración de un equipo técnico interdisciplinar de cerca de 30 personas. “El prototipo genera las variables que queremos controlar y le hemos presentado al alcalde esta iniciativa. Recibimos su apoyo y esperamos que muy pronto empecemos pruebas con Invima y podamos proceder a la fabricación”, dijo.
